The Story of the “Secret Beach”
Michael and I were on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Anyone that has been here knows there is beautiful scenery around every corner.
Each day on Kauai greeted us with a sense of adventure as we eagerly woke up, cameras in hand, ready to explore the breathtaking landscapes that seemed to unfold around every bend. We would walk from our condo around the area and explore each morning. Traveling to Hawaii has been a dream of mine since I was young and I was feeling incredibly lucky to finally visit.
In addition to the well-known attractions like the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon, and Hanalei Beach, we aim to highlight the island’s hidden gems, showcasing the breathtaking beauty found in lesser-known, tranquil spots that offer a different perspective on this paradise.
After about 40 minutes of hiking, we stumbled upon a break in the trees leading us through a parking lot. It might not sound glamorous, but sometimes true beauty awaits in the most secluded spots. We descended a narrow, seldom-used trail and discovered a hidden beach where no one else was around. In that moment, we were completely alone, surrounded by nature’s serenity.
After taking a few photographs, a surfer came down the trail. He was alone. We greeted him. He was a local and told us that not many people know about this secret beach, but he tries to go there a few times a week.
It is his foot prints on the beach. He paddled out as we watched him.
We love finding these spots in nature where few people go. We have been around the world and there are fewer and fewer of them in the age of instagram and the internet.
We finished photographing the beach and sat there just enjoying the silence. Nothing could have been better.
