When looking for water in Tsavo, elephants use their acute hearing, sense of smell, and ability to navigate to find water sources. It is not always easy and many times elephants fail. The African elephant, due to its immense size and heavily developed brain, is considered water dependent, usually drinking around 100 litres of water a day!
