One of our closest living relatives the gorilla whose eyes seem to be speaking to us. Silverbacks are the family leaders protecting the females and young. Gorillas are the largest living primates and also one of the most endanged, though their numbers seem to be holding steady at about 1,000.
We hiked through dense jungle to find the gorillas. We ended up finding them near a village. This silverback was sitting in an area eating and just looked up. There seems to be a certain resolve, but a sadness in his eyes.
